Woman dies in collision 1977

"Firemen from five area volunteer departments battled an out-of-control barn fire last Tuesday night, June 14. In a related incident, a 50-year-old rural Trafalgar woman was fatally injured in an automobile accident which involved a volunteer fireman from the Trafalgar department who was on his way to the fire....One volunteer fireman, enroute to the scene, was involved in a collision at the intersection of Airport Road and County Road 300S in Johnson County. The driver of the other car, Mrs. Mable L. Kaylor, Route 2 Trafalgar, died of injuries she received in the accident. Max E. Knapp, Trafalgar volunteer fireman, was also injured in the accident and was taken to Johnson County Hospital. He was later released. Witnesses reported that Knapp had a flashing blue light on his truck but that a blind spot at the intersection may have been responsible for the accident. Both Knapp and Mrs. Kaylor were observing the posted speed limit. The accident pinned Mrs. Kaylor in her auto for about 45 minutes. After she was freed she was taken to Johnson County Hospital and later transferred to an Indianapolis hospital where she died,"
