"I notice in a late issue of the farmer a few words that may mislead some desirous of trying to the experiment of raising cotton. The words are, "Limestone land is not suited to the growth of cotton, etc."...a large portion of Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama are intensely limestone, and yet they raise cotton in vast quantities...Such at least, was my observation while with "Pap Thomas" during the rebellion. I have grown a good article of cotton in Osage county, Kas." |
