Title Military: Fisher, William N - Civil War Pension File Short Title Military: Fisher, William N - Civil War Pension File Call Number Certificate No. 842075 Repository National Archives Source ID S79 Text The following documents are from William N. Fisher's Civil War pension file. These include his Cerrtificate of Disability for Discharge and a variety of declarations and affidavits given after his death. These start with his widow Mary Fisher's pension declaration and declaration for their children . The file continues with an affidavit from a Dr. J. P. Easter that contends William died of cancer. Mary counters this claim stating that William did not die of cancer, but rather from intestinal problems, and that Dr. Easter never in fact attended William near his death. Mary's affidavit in fact calls the good doctor a "quack." The affidavit from W. F. Roberts and J. C. Shipley supports Mary's claim. Mary's application for pension after marrying to Samuel Hover and proof of her marriage to Mr. Hover follow. The final documents in the file are two pension dropped notices recording Mary's death in 1921. Linked to (7) FISHER Austin Nesbut
