Riley writes of intent to move to Waycross 1897

To the Savannah Morning News, Riley, ever the prohibitionist, writes, "Waycross is my first choice of southern localities...and I have visited various states in the south, having spent three years of the late war with my son in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. I am a native of Virginia, but was opposed to slavery and joined the federal armv. My son and I intended to locate in Fitzgerald but as the town voted for barrooms, we abandoned the idea." It would be more than two years before the Hoskinson's actually moved to Waycross in 1899.
